Survivor Empowerment
The Sex Trade Survivor Caucus creates opportunities for survivors to engage in policy, build skills, and take on leadership roles in their communities. Through training, connection, and engagement, members are able to participate in work that shapes laws, systems, and responses.
Engaging in Policy Work
Members analyze and draft policy, meet with legislators, testify at hearings, and contribute to the decisions that shape laws.
Leading in Advisory Work
Members lead internal and external advisory spaces, contribute to strategy, and help shape decisions across STSC and partner efforts.
Building Skills
Members participate in trainings that strengthen their ability to engage in advocacy and communicate effectively in policy spaces.
Connecting with Others
Members build relationships across regions, collaborate with survivor peers, and engage in shared strategy and collective action.
Participating in STSC Initiatives
Members contribute to national efforts including trainings, projects, and initiatives that advance STSC’s work.
Educating and Training Others
Members lead trainings, educate others on policy and systems, and help define how these issues are understood in practice.
What This Makes Possible
Survivors are working together across regions, influencing policy and strategy, and building sustained leadership in spaces where decisions are made.
When survivors are supported in stepping into these roles, the work across the field becomes stronger, more coordinated, and more effective. Survivor leadership brings insight that strengthens advocacy efforts and helps ensure that policies and responses reflect lived experiences. This strengthens not only survivor-led efforts, but also the work of legislators, organizations, allies, and communities working toward lasting change.
