Roadmaps: Understanding Sex Trafficking Through Survivors' Stories
Roadmaps is an advanced interactive in-person training led by trained members of the Sex Trade Survivor Caucus. The activity has two components: a simulation and a debrief.
In the simulation, participants walk through the stories of real people who were trafficked and then make decisions as if you were the victim.
The debrief allows participants to discuss their experience walking through the simulation and ask questions. Participants are encouraged to think about how their organization’s policies may help or hinder survivors and ways their organization can remove barriers to accessing services.

One participant said, "This session demonstrated such a thoughtful approach to bring these stories together to teach people in a practical, professional experience that invoked empathy, compassion and reflection. It was so well done from the instructions to the execution of the exercise and guidance of reflection. The silence was necessary for the activity and reflection. I was grateful to be able to pace myself to allow my thoughts to process and honor the story I was reading in a moment that was distraction free. As a verbal processor the second part was needed for me to get to process and reflect too. I feel grateful for the opportunity to learn and hear from others in this session. As well as the opportunity for both internal and external perspectives."
